"I have been within the Industry now for over 30 years. During that time, I can't tell you how many times I have seen kids and adults, cut their hands while drying off their skates. No, it has nothing to do with being stupid, it has everything to do with have sharp skates (knifes) be held in one's hand.

Year after year, I see players, old and new, come to my office for a band-aid because they cut their hand while drying their skates off with a towel. Two years ago, I had an adult at my rink that sliced his finger so bad that he had to have surgery on his finger to reattach a tendon that he sliced off....took him out the ice for several months.

However, Brian Mixdorf came up with this great idea on how to protect hockey players fingers. It's called The Original Skate Squeegee, and it works great. Just place the tool on the blade, and pull. The tool have several squeegees that dry the blade clean. In addition to having felt inside to clean and dry the bottom of the blade. Plus, because it's made out of a hard plastic material, the blade will not cut through it and slice your hand.

It kind of funny, and I'm really surprised that hockey equipment manufactures give drying cloths away as an advertising gimmick that has their brand logo on the towel. However the towel gets thin, and the next thing you know, I could have a law suit on my hands. With this product, companies can promote their brand logo by having it stamped right on the hard plastic for a fraction of the cost.

This is an item that every kid should have in their bag. Not only for extending the life of the skate blade, but more importantly saving the hands and finger of little hockey players.
