Brian Mixdorf began coaching hockey the moment his son strapped on skates for the first time, and has been coaching with the New Ulm Minnesota Hockey Association ever since. Brian invented the Original Skate Squeegee after identifying that a need existed to come up with a safer, and more efficient way to clean and dry skate blades. As a coach, and a hockey parent, Brian began polling players and parents to see if the concept of the skate squeegee made sense. The overwhelming response was yes! Parents responded by citing three main reasons why they loved the idea. First, they had an obvious safety concern with their kids using fingers on a sharp blade. Second, they were tired of constantly replacing their kids uniform socks because they were sliced up from being used to wipe the blade. Three, the rags or towels their kids used were also sliced up, and were wet and moldy from sitting in their bags. Players loved the idea because they thought is was a "cool product", and didn't need to worry about cutting their fingers on the sharp blade. The approach and methodology when inventing the product was by simply applying common sense. Cars were invented as a quicker and more efficient method of travel over walking. Brian applied the same reasoning when inventing his product. Rags are free, but with the invention of the Original Skate Squeegee players can clean their blades in a more efficient and safe manner. Since launching the product in 2007, the consumer response has been overwhelming. The Original Skate Squeegee, was simply invented to fill a need by players and parents. To provide a safer, and more efficient method to clean and dry skate blades. Players and parents demanded and deserve an alternative, and it has finally arrived.
